I’m Kara, a multi-award-winning dog and cat groomer, and the proud founder of FDM, which I’ve been running for over 12 years. With 14 years of professional grooming experience, I’ve built my career on passion, precision, and a genuine love for animals.
Throughout the years, I’ve been lucky to receive some amazing recognition, including Up and Coming Groomer 2024 and the Liz Paul Award for Congeniality. My salon, FDM, has also been honoured with the Animal Star Award and the SME Business Woman of the Year title — awarded at Wembley Arena, London.
While I groom all breeds and temperaments, my absolute favourite is the show cocker spaniel — a breed I’ve become a champion groomer with. I also offer professional cat grooming services, creating a calm, safe environment where both cats and dogs feel at ease.
At home, I’m surrounded by a house full of love (and fur!) — my five beautiful dogs: Pluto and Wols the poodles, Banger the dachshund, Bella the cockapoo, and Rosie the spaniel. I’m also a proud mum to two amazing children, Arthur and Kimberly, who inspire me every single day.
FDM is more than a grooming salon — it’s a place built on care, trust, and passion. Whether it’s a pampered poodle or a shy kitty, every pet is treated like family.
The Heart of FDM
I’ve been working with FDM for over six years now, and I absolutely love being a part of this amazing team! As Karas’s mum, I play a special role in the business — from being the dog walker and helping with collection and delivery, to lending a hand in the salon during the evenings. I’m the “mum” of FDM, and it’s a title I wear proudly!
I care deeply for all the dogs that come through our doors, and it’s such a joy to see them follow me around — they know they’re in safe, loving hands. My favourite breed is the dachshund, and I’m lucky enough to have two of my own, Derek and Frankie, along with a little Chihuahua cross named Betsie.
Every day, I get to spend time with amazing dogs, watching them grow and thrive, and I wouldn’t trade it for anything. It’s my passion to make sure every dog feels loved and well cared for at FDM!

Hi, I’m Ellie-Mai and I’ve been working as a dog groomer for over 8 years now. I started my journey at 16, and after completing my City and Guilds Level 2 & 3 in dog grooming in 2017, I knew I had found my calling.
In 2019, I joined the team at Fairy DogMother, starting as an Assistant. Over the years, I’ve grown into my role as a Stylist, and today I’m proud to be the Manager. I love everything about my job—the dogs I get to groom, the amazing team I work with, and the wonderful customers we have. It honestly feels like home, and I couldn’t imagine working anywhere else.
I groom all breeds, all sizes, and all ages, but my absolute favorite dogs to work with are Poodles in traditional trims and Cockapoos with a little extra flair. There’s something about getting the perfect look for these breeds that I find so rewarding.
Throughout my career, I’ve had the honor of competing and winning in various categories, from Poodle and Mixed Breed to Doubles. One of the biggest highlights for me was winning the “New Talent” award, which was such a special recognition in a field full of incredibly talented professionals.

I always knew at a young age I wanted to work with animals and this was the career path I wanted to take!
I studied at college and achieved my Level 3 Diploma in Animal Management, I then volunteered at a dog grooming salon and fell in love with it, so I studied and achieved my Level 3 Diploma in Dog Grooming and began grooming since 2017.
I absolutely love how this job is so different every day and it’s never ending opportunities for learning!
I do have a love for working with the more nervous dogs, and seeing them build their confidence up with the grooming process once we have helped build a foundation of love and respect. Grooming is such an important part of a dogs life and I try to make the process as positive and relaxing as I can for them.
I absolutely love working for fairy dogmother as it’s one big crazy family.

After 15 years of working in retail in 2024 I decided it was time to start chasing my dreams and my passion – dog grooming! I am due to finish my Level 3 City and Guilds qualification in the summer of 2025, where I studied at the College of Animal Welfare in Godmanchester.
I have a naughty little red working Cocker Spaniel called Nala, who keeps me busy at the weekends! But because of her I have a real soft spot for Spaniels, and can’t wait to continue learning from the best as I grow in my grooming journey.

Hi my names Sophie, a junior stylist at fdm. I am a fully qualified level 2 and 3 city and guilds dog groomer I have been at fdm for 2 1/2 years now and have learned so much along the way and always wanting to push myself by doing competitions and attending seminars. I have always been a animal lover and attended college to achieve my animal management qualifications but doing my work experience at a groomers made me fall in love with the art of grooming. My favourite breeds of dog is a lab but I love grooming a doodle and shihtzu’s.

I’m Jodie, a junior stylist. I’ve been working for FDM for 1 year, started as an assistant and when my confidence grew I started to learn to groom. I have been grooming since Oct 2024 and have learnt everything on the job by the talented stylists. Competed in my first competition and loved it. My favourite breeds to groom are cockapoos. I have a cat called Callie and Yorkshire terrier called Frankie.

I’m Ella, I have been working at FDM for 5 years now, competed in many competitions and placed. I did my level 2 & 3 city and guilds in dog grooming at college. My favourite breed to groom is a Border Terrier and Cockapoo. I have a Hungarian vizsla puppy called Phoebe.

My name is Mia, I have been working as a dog grooming assistant for a year and a half now and most recently joined FDM to excel my training and I’ve not looked back since! Growing up my dream job was always based on working with animals, whether it was dog walking, vet nursing or grooming. I’m so glad I pushed myself to dog grooming as it’s my passion and it doesn’t feel like work when you love what you do! I have a shih-poo (shihtzu poodle) at home called Peppa and have always had dogs growing up. My favourite dogs to groom would probably have to be a shihtzu!

Hi, I’m Ellie!
Animals have always been my biggest passion – growing up, our house was always full of dogs, cats, and even a rabbit! That lifelong love naturally led me into the animal care industry, and I’ve recently completed my Diploma in Dog Grooming and Salon Management.
Before joining the wonderful team at The Fairy Dog Mother as a junior stylist, I gained hands-on experience working in a busy doggy daycare, boarding, and grooming environment. Every day brings something new, and I’ve already learned so much since being at FDM.
I feel so lucky to do what I love every single day, and I can’t wait to welcome you and your furry best friends to the salon.

I started working here at Fairy Dog Mother for work experience in July 2022, and I was so lucky to be offered a job here!! I’ve been working here coming up 3 years, I love it here, everyone is so kind and helpful. I wash and dry the dogs so you won’t really see me at the front. I think it’s so satisfying watching how the dog goes from wet to dry as it quite rewarding to see. My favourite dog to wash and dry is a Labrador , they always light up my day and they are always so well behaved. I might be a bit biased as I would love to have a Labrador of my own when I’m older.
I have a cockapoo called Bonnie, she is nearly 4. She loves coming here and socialising with the other dogs. She is a Bronze package and so it helps my colleagues practice their grooming skills.

I started at fairy dog mother in January 2024 carrying out work experience, which once I completed I then went straight into working part time as an assistant. I help wash and prep all the dogs before their grooms . I have currently been working at fairy dog mother for around 10months now.
I have a qualifications in level 1 animal care , level 2 technical animal management and I am currently coming to the end of my second year of level 3 animal management. I am going on to do my level 2 and level 3 city & guilds dog grooming this September. I’m looking forward to being more hands on in the salon and learning the techniques of grooming.
My favourite breed of dogs is a poodle or a Poodle mix. I currently own a 2 year old female schnoodle and a giant French lop rabbit.

I am new to Fairydog Mother. I absolutely love being part of this amazing team! I am an assistant groomer which includes washing the dogs, drying and brushing them ready to be groomed. I also go out for the dog walks during the day with Serena which is such good fun, and the dogs love it too! I love seeing the dogs enjoy themselves.
I have previously done pet sitting and I really enjoyed that, it’s nice spending time with the animals and caring for them .
I have so much love and care for any dog or cat that we have come in the salon and treat them as if they was my own. My favourite breed is a pug and cockerpoo. I also have a cat called fudge he’s lovely, he came from Wood Green as we rescued him from there and I love him Very much, With all the other animals in my family.

I’m Cathie, I’ve worked at FairyDogmother since June 2025 and loved every second! I love doing Bronze grooms, and I’ve even already started competing – I came second place in my first ever competition in Wales which has been my proudest moment so far! I’ve had so many opportunities to learn and grow and I’m proud of my progression already. My favourite breed to groom is the Schnauzer, and I have a little Maltipoo called Lula who’s my whole world.
